During extrusion, elastomers are continually pressed out of an opening (mouthpiece) using pressure and specific temperatures to create (endless) strands. The mouthpiece is what gives the parts their form.
Round cord
An endless strand with a circular cross-section. Round cords are often used to manufacture round cord rings. These are produced through shock vulcanization or by bonding round cords, for example.
Profile cord
An endless strand with an application-specific cross-section made using a customer mouthpiece.
